Welcome to our web site.  We've put together this site to update our friends and relatives with news about us and to post pictures of our adventures as we live our dream in the mountains of Colorado.  We've also included special features like a web cam looking out our front window and a weather station to display current weather conditions at our house.

FTP Not Working

FTP, the protocol for transferring files to our web host, is not working as of about 6:00 PM tonight.  Current weather may not have been working for longer than that.  I have contacted our web host and they are aware of the problem as it is affecting other customers as well.  When they have determined the problem, it will be fixed, hopefully before too long.  Until then, the Ranch Cam,Yesterdays History, and Current Weather will not update.

Update:  7/11/2023 11:38 AM - FTP is partially working-at least the Ranch Cam is updating.  The temperature displayed on the Camera image is also correct.  However, the Current Weather page is not updating consistently.

Update:  7/12/2023 - At least the Current Weather page s now working more consistently.  Hopefully, the Yesterdays History timelapse video will upload correctly automatically overnight.  It does work manually.

Server Down

Our personal server that creates the "Ranch Cam" photo and the Current Weather page went down Saturday evening, 6/3/2023.  We're waiting on parts and expect it to be back up at least partially (depending on how good our backups are) by the end of the week, 6/10/2023.  Our apologies for those who like to keep up with the ranch camera and weather.  We''ll make sure to have parts on hand to minimize disruptions in the future.

UPDATE June 10, 2023 - Both the Current Weather and Ranch Cam are working as of about 1:45 PM.  It appears that no data was lost from the weather station.  However, "Yesterday's History" will not be completely correct until about Monday, due to needing to collect enough images to use to make the time lapse.  Your patience has been appreciated.  

Ranch Cam Replacement

The "Ranch Cam" was recently replaced with a new camera that is brighter especially at night.  The date and temperature display has been moved to the new camera so that feature continues to show up with the new camera.  Please send us a message if you notice something that is not working.

 

Weather Station Software Has Changed

The application that collects and displays the weather station data has changed.  The old software was no longer supported so it was running on a server whose OS was also reaching EOL.  Fortunately, the new application could make use of the old database, so all of the data that has been collected over the last 9 years is still available.  There are no graphics (gauges) in the new software, but I will continue to look at adding that feature later.  Also, note that clicking on the Current Weather menu item now opens a new page without the headers and menus, so when you're done, just close the window.

More of Angel's Excellent Adventures - Iceland

Angel has made another stop on her Excellent Adventures-this time to Iceland via Toronto to hike the Laugavegur Trail.  You can see her pictures from this trip here.  She also took a couple of videos showing the landscape, but they will need additional processing before posting.  Check back soon to see them.

8/11/2017 Update - The videos that Angel took in Iceland have now been added.  To see them select "Videos" from the Main Menu, then "Angel's Excellent Adventures", then "Iceland", then the video you want to see.  Le me know if you have any problems viewing them.

September 2016 Quick Trip to Grand Junction

In September, we drove to Grand Junction for a weekend to visit Curtis' cousins Ken and Alice at their house there (as opposed to their farm where they live in Nebraska).  We made it a full 3 days visiting the Colorado National Monument, hiking in Bangs Canyon to the Mica Mine, visiting the peach orchards in Palisade, and then driving up on the Grand Mesa to take in the views there before returning home.  To get there, we drove up to Breckenridge and then through Glen Canyon through the heart of the Rocky Mountains.  For variety for the return we drove US 50 over Monarch Pass.  Pictures from the trip have been posted in the Photo Gallery here.
