Upcoming Roadwork
The Fremont County DOT will be conducting vegetation control operations tomorrow May 2, 2024 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Ash Street, where Ash Street meets Elm Ave. Traffic will be reduced to one-lane during this time, and signs and flaggers will be utilized. Please slow down through the work zone and plan accordingly for your commute. Feel free to share with anyone who may need this information. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated while crews work to complete the work.
Free Disposal Vouchers
April 8, 2024 through May 17th, 2024 Fremont County will be offering vouchers for Fremont County residents outside city limits for disposal of household trash, furniture, construction debris, brush, logs, leaves, and yard waste at Twin Enviro, 2500 Fremont County Road 67 in Penrose between the hours of 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Vouchers will be issued from the Fremont County Administration Building in Room 106, Monday - Thursday from 7 AM to 5 PM. 1 voucher per driver's license showing valid County address. 1 load per voucher, up to 500 pounds. Excess amounts will be charged ($25/ton) to resident at gate. For more information, view the attached flyer.

Indefinite Bridge Closure FRCO 308-TX CK
Fremont County DOT has closed bridge FRCO 308-TX CK located at CR 27 over the Arkansas River. This bridge will be closed indefinitely until State required repairs can be completed. Road closure notices and barricades are in place. Please share with anyone who may need this information or anyone who may not use electronic technologies as a form of communication.
As always, we appreciate your patience and cooperation while we work conduct needed repairs to re-open access to the bridge.
Election Sticker Design Contest
The Fremont County Clerk and Recorder’s Office Elections Division invites all County residents to submit their designs for new stickers to be used during the 2024 Presidential Election and possibly beyond. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or graphic designer, or you just love to express your creativity through drawing or illustration, we welcome your submission and we look forward to seeing what you’ll create.
Submissions will be accepted starting May 6th, 2024 and continuing until August 15th, 2024.
"Future Voter" entrants must be 17 years or younger.
"I Voted" entrants must be 18 years or older.

Electronics Recycling Event
Fremont County is sponsoring an Electronics Recycling Event at the Fremont County Department of Human Services Parking Lot, 172 Justice Center Rd., Cañon City, CO 81212. The event will be from 9:00 am to noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The cost is $30 per item for televisions and CRT computer monitors. All other items are free. No light bulbs, old thermostats with mercury, or large appliances (microwaves are accepted.)
